The Perfect Getaway!
While I taught in S. Korea, My (then soon to be) husband served his country in Italy, and we planned out marriage in America.
My husbands follow on was S. Korea, and we decided since I needed to get back to work, and he needed to report for duty, that we would fly to Korea and spend a few days together a mini vacation, while we wait for our summer honeymoon, and then be on our way, as we would ultimately live 6 hours away, and seeing each other on weekends.
I planned for us to stay at this quaint little hotel close to Incheon Airport one reason was because I recognized the name, though Best Western doesn't have the best reputation of being "high end" in America, in Korea, it does.
I would fly in a few hours before my husband. At the airport, I took the KAL Limousine bus and it was about 7000 won (7 dollars). the bus mad a couple of stops but then pulled up to the hotel, and I was amazed at the appearance from the outside. Very tall, very clean and groomed for the winter. As i walked with bags in hand, the doorman came running to greet me, and helped me inside. I was in awe of the beauty, I felt as if I was inside a hotel that i couldn't afford. the front desk was very present and spoke pretty good English. I arrived earlier than check in allowed, but without question, and very quickly, I was helped to my room. I opened the door to find a corner room on the highest floor over looking the city. It was very unlike Korea to have such a comfortable bed, and linens. The room was pretty small, compared to rooms Americans are use to having in the States, but small hotel rooms are normal in Korea. There was a mini bar, flat screen with English channels, and a beautiful bathroom with a shower and bathtub, my favorite amenity in S. Korea has to be the heated toilet seats.
I went exploring the neighborhood. The there was some developing going on, around the hotel, but from the room you couldn't hear. I found a store, and some restaurants, but decided to eat at the restaurant on the 1st floor. It was expensive, but very good, and I had very good service.
When my husband arrived, we stayed inside the whole weekend, and ordered room service. We tried the pretty expensive buffet upstairs, but honestly, it did not offer anything we were interested in eating (more Asian food than we would have liked).
All in All, if you are looking for a great comfortable place, with a secluded feeling, this is your hotel... but remember it isn't cheap. I reserved under expedia.com and our room was around $110.00
